RACE Update 12/07/2008
3:00pm Central Time
Team Trim-Tex/Fall-Line Motorsports
DNF (did not finish) due to a mechanical failure. This is
heart breaking as everything was going perfect. The crew,
car and drivers have been outstanding and Joe could not be
more proud. There is always next year : ) Next
update will be the race report from the entire event.
RACE Update 12/07/2008
8:30am Central Time
At 6:30am Central Time the teams were told they have twenty
minutes to work on their cars before the re-start of the race.
This turned out to be a mad dash (golden opportunity) to freshen/tighten
up the car. NOTE: All the work had to be done where the cars
were parked when they stopped the race out on the main straight,
the teams were not allowed to move the cars. At 7:00am Central
time the race restarted with Mark behind the wheel for his
second stint. Team Trim-Tex/Fall-Line Motorsports is currently
in first place over all, eleven laps ahead of second place.
There is still fog, although it is starting to lift.
RACE Update 12/06/2008
10:30pm Central Time
Towards the end of Joe's second stint
the race was RED Flagged due to fog. All cars have been parked
out on the main straight. The race will resume as soon as
the fog has lifted, although it is not likely for the fog
to lift until morning. With that said the race may not resume
until 11:00am Central Time. The finish of the race has been
extended to 5:00pm Central Time. Joe has told me "Everything
is going great", "The 13 person crew continue to
give 100%", "Kenny O's cooking is of course outstanding".
So far Steve and Joe have had two stints in the car, while
Mark and Rob have had one. NOTE: It is going to be a long
night as everyone has to be ready to go as soon as the fog
lifts, whenever that may be. At the time of the red flag team
Trim-Tex/Fall-Line Motorsports was still in the lead, and
eleven laps ahead of second place for their class. They are
currently third overall.

RACE Update 12/06/2008
5:30pm Central Time
* Drivers are changing in the following order 1. Steve 2.
Joe 3. Mark 4. Rob
* Arnold is getting one hour and ten minutes to a tank of
fuel
* Joe was a little delayed for his frantic driver change...
do to an un-scheduled bathroom break : )
* A Viper spun in front of Joe causing him to come to a complete
stop. A few laps later another car spun in the same corner
causing Joe to stop again.
* Rob encountered a full course yellow which put him to the
back of the pack. Rob and Arnold are currently pushing back
up to the front.
All in all everything is going great, from the car to the
crew. Everyone is having a blast.

RACE Update 12/05/2008
Many lights have been mounted and they have been tested during
our qualifying which was held late in the day just between
dusk to dark. Qualifying was described as "Crazy Mayhem"
with 70 cars all fighting to do their best. And that is just
what our team's very own Steve Jenkins did when he qualified
#1. Not only did Steve take the top spot, he was also three
seconds a lap faster than the second car in our class. Steve's
qualifying times have also come in as the third fastest car
over all. Needless to say we are all very happy.
RACE UPDATE 12/04/2008
The Truck has arrived the planes have landed and the local
support is on site. The fog has lifted and Arnold (The race
car) has been tested and approved by all four drivers "This
car is amazing". According to the track times Arnold
is running up in the top of his class and well within the
top five overall. Unfortunately due to a family illness Brian
Kubinski will not be able to join us as planned, his talents
and personality will be greatly missed.
Trim-Tex, the premier manufacturer of vinyl drywall beads,
along with partners Hoosier Tire, and Fall-Line Motorsports
will be competing in the National Auto Sports Association's
25 Hours of Thunderhill in California early next month. This
will be a drive for the overall win, as well as a Drive for
Charity! We will be teaming up with Shriners Hospitals for
Children to defy the odds in this grueling 25 hour race, while
at the same time helping Shriners kids defy even bigger odds.
The NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill is the longest race held
in the United States, and due to its running in the month
of December, it has been called the "most severe endurance
race on the planet." With over 14 hours of darkness,
and temperatures that can range from below freezing to above
70, coupled with a severe track that has many blind turns
and elevation changes, the drive to the finish will be a tough
one.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind health
care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by
providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and
outstanding teaching programs. Every year, they provide care
for thousands of kids with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal
cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate in a caring and nurturing
family-centered environment at no charge. Its how Shriners
Hospitals help kids do what they otherwise couldn't. As a
501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, Shriners Hospitals for
Children relies on the generous donations of Shriners and
the general public to carry out their mission and change the
lives of children every day.
Team Trim-Tex/Hoosier/Fall-Line will have a great driver
lineup and team for the "Drive for 25." The 2005
BMW M3 will be piloted by long-time motorcycle drag racer
Joe Koenig, who recently competed in the SCCA National Championship
Runoffs in only his first full year of sports car racing.
Joining Joe will be the 2007 SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge
Rookie of the Year, Brian Kubinski. Brian brings extensive
GT race experience to the quartet of drivers. The remaining
drivers are all experienced endurance racers coming from the
Fall-Line Motorsports Grand-Am Koni Challenge team. Steve
Jenkins and Mark Boden have been Koni Challenge co-drivers
for the past 3 seasons. With Top ten finishes in pro racing,
as well as multiple wins in club racing, Steve and Mark will
provide the endurance racing mentality for the team. Rob May
(Fall-Line Team manager) will also be suited up for driver
duties should the need arise!
Driving a custom Built 2005 BMW M3, the team will be running
for the overall win in this race. The M3, built completely
from the ground up by Fall-Line Motorsports is powered by
a 500 hp V8 coupled to a sequential gearbox. All of this power
will be harnessed by custom built Hoosier racing slicks. Hoosier
Race tires are the tires designed for Champions.
This 25-hour-long race will be a grueling test of both man
and machine. We, as a team, have decided to do this for charity.
Every driver and team member will be pledging a per lap donation
to Shriners Hospitals for Children and we ask that you consider
doing that as well. In past years, the overall winners of
the race have done approx 650 laps from Green to Checker.
If you prefer to give a single monetary gift to Shriners Hospitals,
we will graciously accept those contributions as well. The
team's goal for the "Drive for 25" is to raise a
minimum of $25,000 for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
With your support, we can give kids a chance to go above
and beyond and achieve their dreams. Please make your pledge
today by fax, mail, or phone. If pledging by phone, please
mention the "Drive for 25".
